We are Crested Butte’s
premier destination for pilates
private training and group classes

Created by Joseph Hubertus Pilates (we call him Joe) in the early twentieth century, Pilates is a corrective form of exercise designed to balance the body. It is an effective adjunct to sports training and physical rehabilitation. Practicing Pilates yields benefits like increased strength, flexibility, lung capacity, circulation, and better posture.

The body-mind-spirit modality translates into every moment and movement of life, bringing to life Joe’s saying:

“Change happens through movement, and movement heals.”

what we do

private Training

We offer private training in Pilates and Gyro-Tonic®.

Work one-on-one with a knowledgeable instructor who knows movement from the inside-out.

Our instructors have decades of experience working with all bodies. Whether athletic, de-conditioned, injured or recovering, we can help you find your strongest self.

New to Pilates? We recommend one to three private sessions to familiarize yourself with Pilates concepts, equipment and safety before joining a group class.

Group Classes

We offer group classes for beginners to advanced clients in Pilates mat, reformer, jump board, chair, cadillac and barrels, as well as TRX and ballet barre.

Equipment Class Categories

LEVEL 1 Pilates Equipment

This class is designed for those new to Pilates, for those who want to focus on basics, and for those who need to go a bit slower for any reason, like injury or other physical limitations.

We’ll focus on strengthening the Powerhouse of the body and simple, healthy movement patterns.

Instructors will help students with Building Blocks and/or Modifications to exercises as needed.

The work will be performed on both mat and equipment, at the instructor’s discretion, to create the optimum experience for each small group class.

LEVEL 2 Pilates Equipment

Experience Required. This class is for those familiar with the Pilates repertoire, Principles, concepts, and terminology. Increased movement complexity requires strength, stretch, stability and stamina.

Students should be capable of modifying exercises on their own, if needed.

Utilizes the mat, reformer, chair, tower or jump board at your instructors’ discretion, to create the optimum experience for each small group class.

LEVEL 3 Pilates Equipment & Equipment Circuit

Experience Required. This class is for strong, healthy bodies who are deep in the Pilates work. Requires strength, stretch, stability and stamina. Classes move at a dynamic pace. Complex movements require concentration, control, balance and coordination.

Not recommended for those who need to modify exercises.

Utilizes the mat, reformer, chair, tower or jump board at your instructors’ discretion, to create the optimum experience for each small group class.

I was recommended to TMC by my physical therapist as I was experiencing pain around herniated discs in my neck. I quickly discovered that this would be my new fitness home, as the instructors were all very conscious of my injury and helpful during class in making sure I was in proper form at all times to strengthen my neck and thus strengthen the rest of my body.

I look forward to every class because not only does it make me feel good afterwards, but the classes challenge my body to build muscle and alignment in places I didn’t even know exist! TMC is for all ages, sizes, and physical fitness levels.

You will not be disappointed! Thank you TMC for all you have done for me and my body…5 stars!

Pilates has literally changed my life!! Instead of getting a ski pass last winter, I invested into a consistent practice, on the equipment, 3-5 days a week at The Movement Center. I’ve never felt so in tune with my body and mind. All of the teachers are uniquely amazing, and the non-competitive vibe is just what I need to feel encouraged and supported. I’m truly hooked for life. Thank you Jenn, Sophia, Becca and Juliette

I wanted to send a huge hug and shout out to Sophia!!! What an amazing instructor. She is incredibly attentive, positive, informative and very caring of each student and their individual needs.

I was lucky enough to get a little ‘extra attention’ at my most recent class and the way we focused and worked together was both enlightening and powerful. Sophia is gentle yet drives you to improve with each delicate movement.

I am grateful for her personal attention and for her easy style when she is teaching core based skills.

Thank you Sophia!! You are awesome!

THANKS!! I love it so much. Couldn’t do life without pilates =)

I went mountain biking with my friend the other day and he was amazed at how my normally slow body was powerful on the uphills, and I had to wait for him at times! It proves to me that one month in Pilates is helping me recover in more ways than I realized!
